What affects the price

When you are looking at the price of a new water heater, a few main things shift the final number. The type of unit you choose—whether it is a tank model or a tankless system—is the biggest factor. You also have to consider the fuel source, like gas or electric, and the physical space where the heater sits. If your home needs new venting, updated piping, or a different hookup to meet current safety codes, that adds labor time to the project.

About this service

When you switch to a tankless system, the installation price covers the labor required to modify your gas lines, upgrade venting, and configure the plumbing. Costs typically vary based on the complexity of your current setup and the capacity of the unit you choose. A professional technician will need to assess your home's layout to provide an accurate estimate for these modifications. Exact pricing confirmed free on the call.

Even though it is warm outside, your water heater is still working daily. Summer is a great time to adjust your settings, as the incoming water isn't as cold, which can actually help extend the life of your unit. If you are planning a home renovation or just want to upgrade to a more efficient model, call us to talk through your options.

Frequently asked in Fort Collins

How long do hot water heaters typically last?

Traditional tank water heaters generally last between 8 to 12 years. Tankless water heaters, however, are known for their durability and can often last 20 years or more with proper care. This extended lifespan can make the initial investment in a tankless system a compelling choice for Fort Collins homeowners.

What is the average cost of putting in a water heater?

The average cost to install a water heater in Fort Collins can vary widely based on the type and complexity. Tankless water heater installation typically involves higher upfront costs than traditional tank models. The specific unit chosen, its capacity, and any necessary plumbing or venting work will determine the final price.

What is the most efficient type of water heater?

Tankless water heaters are generally considered the most efficient type of water heater available. They heat water only when it's needed, eliminating the standby energy losses associated with keeping a large tank of water hot. This efficiency can lead to significant savings on your energy bills.

What are signs I need a new water heater?

Signs you might need a new water heater include a lack of hot water, discolored or smelly water, or visible leaks around the unit. Also, if your current heater is approaching the end of its typical lifespan, it's a good time to consider replacement for your Fort Collins residence.

What is the most common problem with a hot water heater?

Sediment buildup is a common issue in traditional tank water heaters, which can reduce efficiency and lifespan. For tankless units, mineral scaling can occur, especially in areas with hard water. Regular professional maintenance is key to preventing these common problems.

Is it worth it to repair a hot water heater?

Repairing a water heater is often worth it if the unit is relatively new and the problem is minor. However, if your water heater is old or requires a significant repair, the cost of replacement might be more economical in the long run. Consider the age and overall condition before deciding.
